Getting around Rome
Rome's Metro has two functional lines, the "line A" (red) and "line B" (blue).
Many lines are available at the city center.
Tickets for trams and buses can be bought at most newspaper kiosks and tabacchi (tobacco shop). You must validate the ticket using the machine on the bus/tram when you board. Tickets for trains can be bought at ticket machines or the ticket desk at the station. You must validate the ticket using a machine on the platform before you board the train.
Taxis in Rome are white and can be found at the many taxi ranks. They are no more expensive than general European prices, but if you get stuck in the very congested Rome traffic it can get very expensive!! There is a late night and Sunday and public holiday surcharge.
